In addition to our usual herb seed range, we now have a small but growing range of rare herb seed, which are open pollinated from our organic herb plants, collected and cleaned here on the farm.

Ammi majus

Medicinal Biodiversity

A very attractive, tall border herb that will happily grow in sun or partial shade, with beautiful umbels of white flowers all summer.

Ammi majus seed is medicinal and used to treat digestive problems, and the unusual skin disease known as vitiligo, where skin loses its pigmentation in patches.

Atropa belladonna
Deadly Nightshade

Hardy perennial; up to 1.5m high;
highly toxic
Medicinal Biodiversity Native

Native to the UK and Northern Europe, Atropa belladonna has naturalized in Ireland.

Deadly Nightshade has brownish-violet, bell shaped flowers followed by shiny black berries.

It is a medicinal herb, containing the alkaloids atropine and scopolamine; however, the whole plant is toxic. Do NOT eat the berry as the seed is particularly potent.

Ferula communis
Ferula, Giant Fennel

Frost hardy perennial; up to 5m high
Medicinal Biodiversity

This is a stunning structural, short-lived perennial herb, that can be grown in containers and will flower producing large clusters of tiny, yellow flowers.

It is very attractive to many beneficial insects including the hover fly.

Ferula communis is the source plant for an aromatic gum. This is not a culinary plant and should not be eaten.

Ligusticum scoticum
Scots Lovage, Sea Lovage

Hardy perennial; up to 90cm high
Culinary Biodiversity Native

This herb is native to northern UK, where it can be seeing growing along the cliffs.

Scots Lovage adapts happily to being grown in gardens when planted in a sunny, well-drained soil.

The very attractive umbels of creamy, white flowers are followed by aromatic seeds which add an appealing, sweet celery-like flavour to soups, stews and bread.
