2005: A Show Year to Remember
The show season for 2005 was certainly a year to remember for Jekka’s Herb Farm. The team worked hard all year long, both preparing for and attending the events, and our efforts were rewarded with an impressive five gold medals.
Here are some of our highlights from last summer…
Malvern Spring Gardening Show
In a truly beautiful setting at the foot of the Malvern Hills, the Malvern Spring Gardening Show brought us our first gold in mid May. Visitors to our stand were shown how to create a classic herb garden in a 10ft by 12ft space.

Chelsea Flower Show
Marking Jekka’s 13th visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, where every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital come alive with the sights and smells of the most magnificent plants and flowers on the planet, we were delighted with the fantastic response to our Grow It, Eat It display.
The aim of Grow It, Eat It was to inspire visitors to ditch the supermarkets’ ready-to-eat salad bags and grow for themselves their own much tastier and satisfying salads instead.
Chelsea was also the launch venue for our four exciting new salad seed collections, including many of the herbs featured in the Grow It, Eat It display, such as Chicory Italico Rosso, Rocket, Chervil, Mizuna, Spinach and Sorrel del Belleville.
Jekka received her second gold of the season for Grow It, Eat It – her tenth Chelsea gold!

BBC Gardeners’ World Live
We celebrated our third gold of the season at the BBC Gardeners’ World Live event held in June.
Joining 600 of the country’s best garden retailers and specialist nurseries, we were delighted to receive a visit from Prince Charles and HRH Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles who enjoyed an in-depth discussion with Jekka about the farm’s organic produce.

Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
In early July we exhibited at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the world’s largest horticultural event, set in idyllic parklands. Here we picked up our fourth gold of 2005.

Alongside specialist nurseries from around the UK and featuring one of the most impressive gatherings of roses in full bloom, Jekka gave a number of lectures on the theme Herbs for Health.
Tatton Park Flower Show
Our final show of the summer was the Tatton Park Flower Show at the end of July, which provided a glorious finale to the season, resulting in our fifth gold medal.
Jekka’s dramatic display took full advantage of a wonderful selection of late-flowering plants, such as the striking Purple Loosestrife and Goats Rue.
