A brief history of Jekka's Herb Farm
- In our back garden in Filton, Bristol, Jekka's hobby became an idea for a business.
- We moved to Rose Cottage and the story of Jekka's Herb Farm, as we know it today began.
- We exhibited for the very first time at Bath Flower Show. Our 'Silver Snail' was awarded a silver medal.
- The wholesale side of the business started to grow.
- We started exhibiting at the major RHS Flower shows, Chelsea & Hampton Court. We won our first RHS Gold medal, at Hampton Court Flower show, for our thyme exhibit. We were honoured to have the late Geoff Hamilton, record a piece for the BBC whilst standing in the middle of our display.
- We were extremely proud to win our first Gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
- Our business changed from wholesale to mail order, this gave us the opportunity to expand our collection.
The same year, Jamie Oliver visited the farm and a life long friendship between Jekka and Jamie was formed, over their passion for herbs and cooking.
- Photos of our Chelsea and Hampton Court floral exhibits, both were awarded Gold medals.
- We won our first Tudor Rose, for best floral exhibit, at RHS Hampton Court flower show.
- We won our second consecative Tudor Rose, for best floral exhibit, at RHS Hampton Court flower show.
- We won the creme de le creme, the RHS Lawerence award, for best floral display shown at an RHS show that year, for our Chelsea Flower show exhibit.
- In the winter of 2012 the creation of the Herbetum began.
- In April, the Herbetum opened to its first vistors.
During its first summer the Herbetum flourished.
- The Herbetum looked stunning and we had visitors from all over the world including Japan and Australia.
- Jekka shared her passion and knowledge of herbs with hundreds of visitors during our Open Days, her Master classes and garden group visits, whilst also raising money for the RHS and NGS.
